If still in doubt, please consult Labelstock, Ink and/or Tool and Machinery Manufacturers specification sheets. These should always be consulted when discussing or quoting work for a customer so that every person concerned understands and speaks the same language. To simplify matters, we have provided a reminder throughout the glossary when we believe this to be necessary. The following code is the key: NS = Refer relevant National Standard. LM = Refer Labelstock Manufacturers specification sheets. IM = Refer Ink Manufacturers specification sheets. O = Other manufacturers specification sheets - Die or cutter, plates, etc. Please Note: This Glossary is not intended to be a dictionary. However some terminology and explanations have been drawn from the Collins Concise English Dictionary to provide the correct application of a word used. Similarly, other terminology has been drawn from the TLMI Glossary of Terms - 1992 edition with their kind permission. This book also incorporates terms used in the LATMA Glossary of Terms-1988. New terminology has been added to allow for computer imaging and printing, as well as new ideas for machinery and conversion of Pressure Sensitive Material. As it is expected that revisions will be made over a period of time, (hence the loose leaf pages), we have included 2 pages at the back of the Glossary to be used by Members of LATMA to record any suggestions/alterations/additions/deletions that we may be sent for consideration.
THANK YOU LATMA AUSTRALIA LTD sincerely thanks all suppliers for their support in the production of the Glossary of Terms, and defraying some of the cost so that LATMA members would only need to pay a nominal amount for their first copy. Thanks also to the many LATMA members who contributed to the Glossary of Terms with their suggestions and advice. Unfortunately, they are too numerous to mention by name.
